A state or jurisdiction may apply for membership by completing the membership application form and submitting the form and applicable membership fee(s) to NIC. You can locate the membership application form on our website under the menu item of “New Members” on our Home Page.
NIC supports our members by sharing national standards for education, testing, and consumer health and safety. NIC host conferences twice a year to encourage networking and the sharing of best practices. Please review our website for information relating to topics you may be interested in such as legislation, reciprocity, military resources, and more.
The annual dues for a State or Jurisdiction (active) membership are $200. This fee covers all board members. The annual Associate membership dues are $110. The membership year begins July 1 and ends the following June 30.
An Active Member is the licensing board of a state or jurisdiction, or other official state entity or individual, authorized by statute to enforce or advise on enforcement and regulate or advise on the regulation of the practice of cosmetology which state or jurisdiction is an official member of the NIC.
An Associate member is an Executive Director who is not otherwise a member of the licensing board of a state or jurisdiction but is closely allied to the board/agency and is responsible thereto, provided that the state or jurisdiction is an official member of the NIC.
