Milady has been influencing the beauty industry ever since our founder started his own one-man barbering supply business nearly a century ago. While our beginnings may have been humble, they were also visionary—a vision that continues to guide us today as we redefine what it means to be a beauty professional and expand the possibilities of what beauty can do for an individual, a community, and the world. Founded in 2000, the NCEA has been defining and conveying standards of practice, while educating the industry and the public. The first Esthetician Code of Ethics was created in 2003, and the National Esthetician Certification was launched in 2007. The NCEA Certified credential is not a “one-and-done certification,” with ongoing advanced requirements in laser and light therapy, radio-frequency, ultrasound, oncology esthetics and alternative therapies. Maintaining the NCEA Certified credential demonstrates your commitment to advancing competency standards, and promoting the best possible outcomes to minimize consumer risk. The NCEA Commission on Accreditation (COA) was formed to facilitate and supervise the continuing education requirements of the skin care professional for recertification and/or relicensure.
